Research Project

Title: Automated analysis of contact forces and injuries in sports videos

Summary: The goal of my research is to analyse impacts in sports videos, using computer vision techniques to track players movements and predict dangerous collisions. Intermediate steps to achieve this goal are:

developing human pose estimation and 3D reconstruction models for dynamic multi-person scenes; jointly modelling the scene reconstruction with the body biomechanics. Since the amount of training data available in the context of sports injuries is limited I am also investigating learned augmentations as a way to increase the generalisation capabilities of classifiers.
